This blog is meant to be a public1, professional2, semi-anonymous3 exposition of thoughts on higher education, especially those relevant to administration and teaching.

I’m a math professor at a major state research university in the southern part of the US and am currently serving in the college administration.  I have had a reasonable amount of involvement with the ins and outs of administration at the department, college and university level, and have had a fair amount of contact with education training and policy at various levels. I teach math at all levels from first-year to graduate, and was the lead faculty in the training of our graduate students in the fine art of teaching.

1open to all, relevant to some

3I won’t say too much about who I am, I won’t deliberately misrepresent myself, and I will write like you know (or can know) who I really am
